Presentations in Job Interviews

The “Presentation As part of The Interview” seems to send some candidates into a
cold sweat that is neither helpful nor practical. Prepare as best you can, keeping
the most beneficial fact to the forefront of your thoughts, that being, time is
the answer. The norm is that candidates are given some time – if you are in luck
maybe 4minutes to examine and make notes.
Do not read a presentation, this is where candidates seem to go aground, a presentation
is a presentation, not a library reading or a speech!
The “lights, camera, action” part of this type of Interview usually takes approximately
30 minutes. 15 minutes of the candidate’s oral presentation which should outline
decision and rational behind it. Then a 15-minute allocation for assessors to seek
clarification and ask questions.
The “lights, camera, action” part of this type of Interview is scored on accurate
analysis of information, quality of ideas and effective communication.
